Our TTSMaker review
Our verdict
TTSMaker is the best answer to “I need free voiceovers I can actually use”. Its site says you may use the audio for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, with no extra permission, which is unusual when most free plans in this category block commercial use. The trade-off is quality: voices are clear and usable, but they don’t match premium tools.
Our 4.0 out of 5 score is an editorial judgment based on features, pricing and user feedback. It scores well for value and loses points for voice quality and the lack of cloning.
What it does
You paste text, pick one of 600+ voices across 100+ languages and dialects, adjust speed, pitch and pauses, and download the audio. It can also export an SRT subtitle file, which helps with captions, and layer background music.
What users say
Reviewers consistently praise the free commercial rights and the breadth of voices and languages. The criticisms are about quality, which independent reviewers describe as clear but sometimes artificial, and about the free plan’s ads, captchas and limits. One practical warning is that files are stored for only 30 minutes, so you must download immediately.
Pricing
The Free plan gives 20,000 characters a week, with about 20 voices marked unlimited, plus ads and captchas. Lite costs $13.99 a month for 300,000 characters a month with no ads, and higher plans add more characters and API access. Prices and quotas change, so check the pricing page.
Languages
TTSMaker lists around 80 languages, or 100+ with dialects. Its published list includes Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu and Gujarati, among others. Voice quality varies by language, so listen to a sample in your language first.
Where it falls short
Quality, no cloning, short file storage and free-plan limits.
Who should use it
Choose TTSMaker for free or low-cost voiceovers, explainers, training and social videos where the voice supports the content. Skip it if you want the most natural voices (ElevenLabs), cloning (Fish Audio) or team features (Murf).
