How We Review AI Tools

Last updated: November 1, 2026

SearchMyAITool is an independent directory that helps you choose AI tools. This page explains how we research and score them, how we make money and how to tell us when we get something wrong.

What our reviews are based on

We research every tool before we write about it. We don’t claim to have run our own classroom or production tests. Our reviews draw on:

  • the tool’s official pricing, plan and documentation pages
  • the tool’s terms, including what the free plan allows and whether you can use the output commercially
  • user reviews on sites such as G2, Capterra, Trustpilot and app stores
  • teacher, creator and community discussions
  • independent write-ups and news coverage

We include the complaints, not only the praise. Each review shows the date we last checked it.

How we score

Our scores run from 0 to 5. They are editorial judgments, not the output of a formula. We weigh what the tool does well, what it costs for what you get, how clear its free plan and limits are, and what users say, including recurring complaints about billing, credits or support. A high score means a tool is strong for the job it is built for. It doesn’t mean it is right for everyone.

Keeping reviews current

Prices, limits and features change often. We re-check pages when we notice changes and update the “last updated” date when we do. Before you pay for anything, confirm the current details on the tool’s own website. We also check that a tool still operates before we recommend it, because some tools in older roundups have shut down.

How we make money

Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy a plan, at no extra cost to you. We may also accept payment for sponsored placements.

  • Sponsored placements are always labelled “Sponsored”.
  • Sponsored entries never carry editorial awards or rank numbers.
  • Commissions and sponsorships don’t change a tool’s score or position in our rankings.
  • We don’t accept payment to publish a positive review.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help research and draft pages. A person reviews and edits the pages before they are published, and we take responsibility for what appears on the site.

Corrections

If you spot an error, an out-of-date price or a tool that has changed, email hello@searchmyaitool.com and we will check and fix it.
