Our verdict

ElevenLabs is the safer pick for most people. It is more consistent, supports 70+ languages including Hindi, and offers dubbing, sound effects and a long-form studio. Fish Audio is cheaper for cloning and commercial rights, but its community library varies in quality and has included unauthorised character and celebrity clones.

Key differences

Pricing. ElevenLabs Starter costs $6 a month for about 30 minutes with a commercial license and instant cloning. Fish Audio Plus costs $15 a month, or $11 billed annually, for about 200 minutes with commercial rights.

Cloning. Fish Audio clones from about 10 to 15 seconds of audio. ElevenLabs offers instant cloning from Starter and professional cloning from Creator.

Free plans. Both are for testing. ElevenLabs gives about 10 minutes a month with no commercial license and a credit requirement. Fish Audio gives about 7 minutes, capped at 500 characters per generation, for personal use only.

Languages. ElevenLabs lists 70+ languages, with Hindi well supported on its main models. Fish Audio advertises 80+ languages, though quality varies and we couldn’t verify Hindi.

User feedback. G2 rates both at about 4.5 out of 5. Trustpilot is much harsher on Fish Audio, at about 2.2 from 31 reviews, with complaints about clone quality, support and billing. ElevenLabs’ main complaints are the credit system and lost credits on downgrade.

Consent. Fish Audio’s license bans cloning a real person’s voice without consent, but its community library has had fan clones of characters and celebrities. Only use voices you have the right to use.
