Our InVideo AI review
Our verdict
InVideo AI is one of the quickest ways to get from an idea to a draft video. You describe what you want or paste a script, and it plans the scenes, picks footage, adds a voiceover and captions, and lets you refine the result by chatting with it. For YouTube and social creators who publish often, that speed is the appeal.
The catch is the credit system. Many reviewers say credits disappear quickly and the cost of a video is hard to predict, so it suits people who are willing to watch their balance closely. Our 3.9 out of 5 score is an editorial judgment based on features, pricing and user feedback. It loses points for the unpredictable costs.
What it does
You enter a prompt or a script, and InVideo AI generates a storyboard, matches stock footage or generated clips, adds an AI voiceover, music and captions, and assembles the video. You then adjust it through a chat-style assistant or the editor. Paid plans add access to several AI video models, AI avatars and voice clones, and exports without a watermark.
What users say
Feedback is split. Capterra lists more than 400 reviews, and many users praise how easy it is to use and how much time it saves on YouTube, TikTok and similar content. Others call it a mixed experience or overpriced.
Trustpilot is more critical. A large share of the complaints are about credits. Reviewers say credits were consumed during planning and AI conversations, not only on finished video, that the cost of a whole video wasn’t clear before they started, and that a basic plan’s 75 credits didn’t stretch to a short video with several generated scenes. Some also report difficulty getting refunds. The company replies to some complaints and has published tutorials on managing credits. These are individual experiences, but the pattern is consistent enough to plan around.
Pricing
The Free plan gives a limited weekly credit allowance and watermarked exports, so it’s for testing. Plus costs $20 a month, or $17 a month billed annually ($200 a year), with 75 credits. Max costs $100 a month, or $85 billed annually, with 390 credits. Generative starts at $200 a month, or $170 billed annually, with 800 credits and up, and an Elite tier costs more. Generative video uses the most credits, and credits reset monthly. Some older listings show different prices (such as $28 or $50 plans), and those are out of date, so check InVideo’s pricing page before you pay.
Before you pay
Run a short video on the Free plan first. Ask for a credit estimate before each major step, use stock footage where you can, and keep an eye on your balance. Check the refund policy before you subscribe.
Where it falls short
Costs are hard to predict, the free plan is only a trial, and some reviewers feel they have limited control over the final result. It isn’t a full editor, so detailed edits take time or credits.
Who should use it
Choose InVideo AI if you want fast draft videos from scripts and you’re comfortable managing credits. Skip it if you need predictable monthly costs. Pictory uses video minutes instead of credits and is built for turning written content into video, and Fliki pairs text-to-video with a large voice library. For presenter-style videos, see HeyGen and Synthesia.
